Great job with bone health.

What am I doing to keep my bones healthy?

1. Nutrients

You need plenty of calcium and vitamin D to keep your bones strong. You can get calcium and vitamin D from foods (like dairy products) or by taking supplements. Your body can also make vitamin D from the sun, especially if you are light skinned and live in climates that are warm and sunny throughout the year.

2. Estrogen

Normal levels of estrogen are important for bone health. Underweight girls are at risk for low estrogen levels and irregular periods.

3. Exercise

Doing weight-bearing exercise (walking, jogging, weight lifting, team sports, dancing, aerobics) on a regular basis is also important for bone health.
