Ask Us:

It's painful to go to the bathroom (pee) and I feel like I have to go a lot. Should I be worried?

Depending on how much water or other fluids you drink you may need to pee often, but it shouldn't hurt. You should call your primary care provider (PCP) to see if you need an appointment or urine tests. Be prepared to give a urine (pee) sample at the office. Your PCP will likely ask if you've had urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the past and if you are sexually active. He/she may order tests to find out if you have a UTI and/or and STI (sexually transmitted infection). You may need medication.
